Tuju Removed From ICU, Flown to UK for Specialized Treatment

Jubilee Secretary General Raphael Tuju was on Thursday, February 20, flown to the UK for specialized treatment following

Through a statement by Jubilee Party Communications Director Albert Memusi, he stated that the family had arrived at the decision following consultations with the doctors. The party further confirmed that doctors taking care of him had begun to wean him off sedation, added that his injuries were healing well.

“The party is in close and constant communication with the family to monitor every progress made and will continue giving progress reports on his condition,” the statement read.

Tuju was hospitalized after his car was involved in a head-on collision with a matatu at Magina on the Nairobi-Nakuru Highway when the accident occurred near Kijabe

He was on his way to the burial of the late second President of Kenya, Daniel arap Moi, in Kabarak in Nakuru County,when the crash took place.

The Cabinet Secretary without portfolio has been recuperating at the Karen Hospital following his accident on Wednesday, February 12.

The Jubilee Party communications director confirmed through his twitter handle that the decision to fly the party SG was an orer from President Uhuru Kenyatta himself.

Tuju’s family had requested that those wishing to visit Tuju in the hospital allow him more time to recover before making the trip.

The family through the party wishes to thank all those who have been praying, sending messages of goodwill or encouraging them in one way or another.

“They further wish to request that the patient be allowed more time to recover before he can be visited,” the statement read in part.
