Ruiru Stadium Set For Sh200m Facelift

World Bank, through the Kenya Urban Support Programme, gave a Sh1.8 billion grant for development projects in the six municipalities in Kiambu county.

Ruiru stadium is among the projects that is going to benefit from the Sh484 million projects to be undertaken in the municipality.

This was disclosed by Ruiru Municipal manager Fredrick Karanja

Karanja said the construction work will include stands and shades to hold 5,000 football fans, offices, changing rooms and lavatories. Currently, the stadium cannot allow more than 200 people inside. He said the project is expected to be complete by early next year.

Other selected projects will in the County include: Kikuyu Sh534 million, Thika (Sh305 million), Karuri (Sh233 million), Kiambu (Sh167 million) and Limuru (Sh160 million).

Ruiru stadium which has no single seat with most of the fans watching from the outside the erected mesh-wire fence has been playing host to Football Kenya Federation Divisional games with Ruiru Hotstars FC using the facility as a home ground.
