Rivatex Factory Opens Branch In Kisumu To Hire 3,000

Eldoret based Rift Valley Textile Limited popularly known as Rivatex is set to open its first textile factory on a 2.5 acre land in Boya, Nyando Constituecy, Kisumu County.

While on an inspection tour on the proposed site, Nyando MP Hon. Jared Okello, who was accompanied by Rivatex manager Mr. Richard Tanui, plant engineer counterpart Caroline Mureithi and Charles Kipkemoi said the factory is expected to revive cotton farming in the region and provide more than 3,000 employment opportunities in the region.

Hon. Okello said that the project will improve the economy of Nyando and Kisumu.

Nyando MP disclosed that the project is being set up in collaboration with the department of small and medium enterprises, under the Ministry of Industrialisation.

Nyando MP added that the team was tasked by Industrialisation Cabinet Secretary Betty Maina and Principal Secretary Mr Francis Owino to survey the site and report its findings.

Mr. Tanui said they will set up prefabricated buildings in a few weeks 3,000 sewing machines in the new site and employ the first batch of employees.
