Latiff recounted the launch of Spice FM on August 20, 2019, when he and his co-hosts—CT Muga, Ndu Okoh, and Njeri Thorne—ventured into the uncharted territory of a four-hour, talk-heavy morning show during rush hour. He described the blend of excitement and nervousness as they switched on the microphones for the first time, a moment that marked the birth of The Situation Room.
“Our journey began with a shared belief in our ability to succeed, supported by a stellar team behind the scenes—producer Brian Evusa, programme controller Brian Obara, and Radio General Manager Tom Japanni,” Latiff noted. “Today, The Situation Room has become a cornerstone of conversation in Kenya, thanks to the audience that has embraced and shaped it through their engagement.”
Beyond radio, Latiff also anchored news bulletins on KTN News, further cementing his influence in Kenya’s media landscape.
Although Latiff has not revealed his next move, he assured his followers that updates will follow in due course. His departure leaves a legacy of innovation and excellence, as well as a challenge for his successors to maintain the high standards he set.
Eric Latiff’s departure marks the end of an era, but his contributions to Kenya’s media industry ensure his influence will be felt for years to come.
