Thika West Sub-County Police Commander Lawrence Muchangi confirmed the incident, stating that the woman was rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment but was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Eyewitnesses reported that the woman was in the waiting room with other clients when she suddenly collapsed. The Lands Adjudication Officer, who was away on official duties, had advised clients to wait until the afternoon for services to resume. Tragically, the woman’s condition worsened before help could arrive.

“We received a report from the Sub-County Lands Adjudication office that an elderly woman, a client, had collapsed. Officers promptly responded to the scene and confirmed the incident. The woman was immediately taken to the hospital, but unfortunately, she was pronounced dead upon arrival,” Muchangi said.

The police have contacted the woman’s family, who are now awaiting postmortem results to establish the cause of death.

Residents of Thika expressed shock and sorrow at the incident, describing the woman’s passing as untimely and heartbreaking. Investigations into the cause of her death are ongoing.
