Muhoroni MP Hon. Koyoo Hosts Interior PS Dr. Omollo in Ombeyi to Address Flood Challenges

Today, Muhoroni MP Hon. Koyoo James Onyango welcomed Principal Secretary for Interior and National Coordination, Dr. Raymond Omollo, to Ombeyi Ward in Muhoroni Constituency. The visit focused on assessing the devastating impact of ongoing floods in the region and devising permanent solutions to this recurring challenge.

Dr. Omollo assured residents of the government’s commitment to addressing the flooding crisis. He pledged to engage the President in discussions on implementing a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) to fast-track the completion of the Koru-Soin Dam, a critical project to mitigate floods. He also announced plans to involve the National Youth Service (NYS) in dredging major rivers and initiating tree-planting projects along riverbanks to curb soil erosion.

Hon. Koyoo assured flood victims that funds have been allocated in the national budget for constructing dykes along River Nyando and other rivers within Muhoroni Constituency.

The event was attended by several notable leaders, including Kisumu County Woman Representative Hon. Adhiambo Odinga, Budalangi MP Hon. Raphael Wanjala, area MCA Hon. Tom Onditi, Chemelil/Tamu Ward MCA Hon. Adonija, Awasi/Onjiko Ward MCA Hon. Ngeta, and a host of nominated MCAs. Also present were the Regional Commissioner, Muhoroni DCC Mr. Emojoong, and Muhoroni Constituency Manager Sospeter Ngere De.

The leaders reiterated their commitment to long-term flood management solutions and the well-being of affected residents.
