A Chinese national who was captured on tape calling Kenyans monkeys and insulting President Uhuru Kenyatta has been deported by the Kenyan authorities.
Liu Jiaqi, a motorcycle dealer in the rural county of Kiambu was arrested on Thursday morning following complaints and the emergence of the clip.
According to the Immigration Department Liu Jiaqi’s work permit had been canceled and was being processed for expulsion for race discrimination.
“Chinese National by the Name Liu Jiaqi who was captured on video yesterday using abusive words has been arrested. His work permit has been canceled and will be deported on racism grounds,” Maj. Gen (Rtd) Dr. Gordon Kihalangwa, Principal Secretary State Department of Immigration, Border Control and Registration of Persons said.
Liu Jiaqi was secretly filmed in a video by one of his member of staff, who he had threatened to sack from his motorcycle shop in Ruiru town.
In the leaked clip, the businessman boasts that that little can be done by ‘poor, black, smelly’ Kenyans can do to him even he sacks the said worker.
The employee is heard quarrelling a case of discrimination by the Chinese man who interjects him saying it is because he is Kenyan.
“Everyone, every Kenyan is like a monkey. Even Uhuru Kenyatta, all of them,” Jiaqi runs the Son link Limited states.
“I don’t like you monkey people, (you) smell bad and foolish and black,” he added.
The Chinese national Liu all he desired in Kenya was to make money. To add insult to injury, the trader who is allegedly in his early twenties, affirms the Kenyans he is calling monkeys are stupid includes their head of state Uhuru Kenyatta.
The clip angered many online users who call for action to be taken. Some demanded that he be charged in court before the Government deports him.
“That Chinese man needs to be arrested for racism and jailed if found guilty before deportation. Why are u rushing to deport him? Has someone been paid,” Nasir Kenya said on twitter.
Another user Arap Limousines Snr @limousine09 asked, “But @ImmigrationDept; you mean our very own Miguna Miguna could be held up in a police cell for days before deportation & tortured; but this imbecile of a Chinese is just escorted as a VIP for deportation??? Enyewe the Chinese are our New Colonizers; WE ARE DOOMED!!!!!”
Over the weekend, three other Chinese who were arrested from a casino in Kilimani were also deported.
Jiaqi’s deportation comes barely hours after police raided CGTN studios in Nairobi and arrested foreign nationals.
CGTN studios management said police arrested 13 workers, eight being the broadcaster’s employees.
The 13 Chinese nationals who were detained by Kenyan police were later release after Chinese embassy in Nairobi intervene and produce legal documents.
Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet confirmed that the incident saying the operation was conducted in search of illegal immigrants that netted the 13 who were later freed after presenting their valid papers.
