The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced a partial closure of the Thika Superhighway at Juja Highpoint (commonly known as Centurion) to facilitate the construction of a pedestrian footbridge. The closure will take place from Thursday, December 12, 2024, to Tuesday, December 17, 2024, during nighttime hours between 11:00 PM and 6:00 AM

Motorists traveling towards Nairobi will be diverted behind the Lexo petrol station before rejoining the highway, while those heading towards Thika will use a diversion behind the Centurion Hotel.

In a public notice, KeNHA urged motorists to exercise caution near the construction zones, adhere to the proposed traffic management plan, and cooperate with police and traffic marshals present on-site.

This announcement comes amidst ongoing road closures and traffic disruptions in Nairobi and its environs, attributed to extensive construction projects aimed at improving infrastructure. Recent closures include parts of Uhuru Highway for the construction of a pedestrian underpass and sections of the Nairobi-Nakuru Highway for upgrades to the Southern and Western Bypass link.

Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has also highlighted upcoming road rehabilitation and construction efforts across the city, emphasizing the need for coordinated efforts between national and county authorities.

Motorists are advised to plan their travel accordingly and stay updated on traffic management measures during these works.
