According to Kiambu County Assembly Speaker Stephen Ndichu, Mr. Omondi popularly known as ‘Gearbox’ suffered a heart attack while on a trip to India.
Theta MCA Simon Kuria Wakarema said Omondi was among ward reps in the Education Committee who attended a workshop in India.
According to Witethie ward representative Julius Macharia, Omondi, was found dead in his hotel room on Wednesday.
Omondi Gearbox, a vibrant, youthful MCA who hails from Siaya county won the Wendani ward seat on a Jubilee ticket becoming the first person from the Lakeside region to be part of Kiambu county assembly.
Macharia, popularly known as Taki, said Omondi’s death has come as a shock to the Kiambu county assembly, given he was in good health.
“I received news of Omondi’s death via a social media platform that all Kiambu MCAs are on,” Macharia said.
Thika District Business Association chairman Alfred Wanyoike said that the county has lost a great leader and a philanthropist.
