According to a report filed by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Eldoret West Sub County, the suspect was apprehended with a Jericho pistol, one magazine, and seven rounds of ammunition.

Okundi will be arraigned and charged with murder tomorrow, according to Uasin Gishu Police Chief Ayub Gitonga.

Okundi, who has been on the run since Friday, is accused of shooting dead corporal Barrack Oduor Onyango at the home of Marilyn Marion Ouma before fleeing the gated estate.

The event occurred immediately after Onyango, a friend named Donar Kajwang, and Marion returned to her house near Uzima University at 3.30 a.m.

“Upon reaching the estate, Okundi suddenly appeared and a scuffle ensued between Marylyn, Kajwang and Onyango,” said part of the statement recorded by the woman at the centre of the saga.

Okundi is said to have pounced on Ida’s bodyguard and disarmed him in the process. He then fired at the cop twice in the head and leg, killing him instantly.

In the subsequent melee, Kajwang was shot in the leg and taken to Kisumu’s Aga Khan Hospital, where he is said to be in stable condition.
