Education CS Prof George Magoha on Monday, August 2, announced the extension of KCPE and KCSE registration deadline by two weeks to Saturday, August 14.
In a statement seen by Kisasa News 2021 candidates who are yet to register for the examinations have until August 14, 2021, to finalise the process.
Magoha noted that school heads and teachers had indeed issued the request to the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) to allow them more time to register all candidates.
This is due to many challenges experienced in the school calendar such as the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.
“The headteachers and principals are reminded to ensure that all candidates are registered for the examination within this final two weeks.
Further, Magoha noted that the registration deadline would be followed with verification of candidates’ registration details between Monday, August 16 and Friday, August 27.
“Headteachers and principals are informed that the duly signed nominal rolls and medical reports for candidates with special needs must be submitted to Sub County Directors of Education together with the other registration documents,” the statement read.
Magoha warned that the schools should ensure equity when dealing with the candidates, adding that those who will miss out on the deadline will not be allowed to sit for the March 2022 examinations.
“Any candidate who fails to register for the 2021 examination to be sat in March 2022 will only be allowed to sit the examination in December 2022. Late registration shall not be allowed,” the CS announced in a press statement.
The Sub County Directors of Education were informed to submit the records of hosted schools to KNEC by Friday, September 10.
“The Head Teachers and Principals are reminded to ensure that all bona fide candidates are registered for the examination within this final weeks. Any candidate who fails to register for the 2021 examination to be sat in March 2022 will only be allowed to sit the examination in December 2022,” reads part of the statement.
Initially, the deadline had expired on Saturday, July 31 which led to a total of 1,218,892 KCPE candidates and 824,392 KCSE candidates registered respectively.
