The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives have arrested a 60-year-old woman suspected to be behind the kidnapping and eye-gouging of the 3-year-old Junior Sagini in Kisii. Tools that were used to pluck off Baby Sagini’s eyes were also recovered at her granny’s house. The tool is called Esindake (in Gusi languange) is that tool Cobblers use to fix shoes. was recovered in the man’s house and is with the Police.
Pacificah Nyakirario was arrested in Nairobi where she reportedly fled after the heart-wrenching incident and was immediately escorted to Kisii. Nyakirario, who is the victim’s aunt, is currently held at Kisii Police Station pending arraignment. She is the mother to Alex Maina Ochogo who was arrested on the evening of Sunday, December 18, in connection to the attack on the innocent boy.
According to neighbors, the boy and his sister have been staying with the grandma after heir mother fled the homestead. The two kids were not sired by their so called father and he even acknowledged when police visited the home. He calls them “Ebirentane” in Kisii native means someone that is not born in the family.
Investigators said the 28-year-old man conspired with his mother Nyakirario to attack the baby and remove his eyes for a bizarre ritual. The prosecution was allowed to hold Ochogo for five days pending investigations into the incident. Sagini went missing on Wednesday, December 14, before being found a day later writhing in pain with blood all over his face after the kidnappers removed his eyes. He was taken to Kisii Eye Care hospital where he is recuperating. Unfortunately, doctors ruled that the young angel, who fell prey to his attackers while fetching water at a nearby river, will remain blind for the rest of his life.
