Labour and Social Protection Cabinet Secretary, Alfred Mutua, has announced over 10,000 job opportunities for Kenyans in Dubai’s booming construction sector.
The positions are part of the government’s ongoing efforts to create employment opportunities for Kenyans abroad.
In a post on his official X account, Mutua revealed that the United Arab Emirates (UAE) construction industry is actively seeking both skilled and unskilled Kenyan workers to bolster its workforce.
According to the Cabinet Secretary, the available positions include steel fixers, masons, scaffolders, carpenters, waterproofing technicians, and general workers.
As part of the recruitment drive, Mutua shared a detailed schedule for recruitment centres across the country:
- Wednesday and Thursday: Kabete National Polytechnic, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Friday and Saturday: Nyeri National Polytechnic, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Monday and Tuesday (next week): Kenya Coast National Polytechnic, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Mutua assured applicants that successful candidates will receive on-the-spot job offer letters. A three-day medical and processing period will follow, after which visas will be issued, with travel arrangements finalized shortly after.
To ensure affordability, Mutua stated that he had negotiated reduced costs for the process. Successful applicants will only be required to cover expenses for tickets, medicals, and minor processing fees.
Applicants are advised to bring their certificates, relevant documentation, and appropriate clothing for practical assessments. For those without passports, Mutua confirmed that expedited passport issuance will be facilitated for successful candidates.
Salaries for the roles will range between Ksh 33,000 and Ksh 60,000, tax-free, with additional benefits including free accommodation, transport, food, and medical care.
“This is a life-changing opportunity. Come and try your luck! Mbele iko sawa,” Mutua encouraged Kenyans.
While the government’s strategy to secure overseas employment has faced criticism—some arguing it focuses on menial jobs rather than formal employment—Mutua remains steadfast in his commitment to providing avenues for Kenyans to earn a living and improve their lives through international opportunities.
