Nairobi, Kenya – In a heartwarming initiative, Coca-Cola lit up the faces of Nairobi commuters by offering free matatu rides during their morning rush. The campaign, dubbed “Javv na Coke,” provided thousands of travelers from Ngara stage with complimentary rides to over ten destinations, including Westlands, Uthiru, Kangemi, Limuru, and Wangige.
The campaign began at the crack of dawn, with Coca-Cola representatives announcing the exciting offer: commuters could ride for free by purchasing a Coke in a returnable bottle for just Ksh 20, regardless of their fare.
The initiative, launched during the financially challenging month of January, was met with gratitude and excitement from commuters.
“God is great! I usually pay Ksh 120 for a round trip to Limuru, but today, I saved that money and enjoyed a Coke instead,” said Florence Waweru, a beaming passenger.
Ms. Joyce Akinyi, a vendor from Wangige, echoed the sentiment: “I saved Ksh 40 after Coca-Cola paid my fare. This is a true blessing, especially when January expenses are so high.”
Regular commuter Justus Ndunda shared his experience: “When I heard about the campaign, I didn’t hesitate. I saved Ksh 40 and got a refreshing Coke in the process.”
The “Javv na Coke” initiative has sparked hopes for similar surprises in other parts of Nairobi. While Coca-Cola has not confirmed if the campaign will extend to other stages, its impact on the day’s commuters was undeniable, turning an ordinary weekday commute into a memorable experience.
