Ruiru, Kenya – Worshippers at Christ Impact Church in Ruiru were forced to flee for safety on Sunday morning after an irate mob stormed the church, vandalizing property and pelting the building with stones.
The attack, which disrupted a live service, was reportedly triggered by trending accusations against the church’s leader, Prophet Peter K. Eyewitnesses described a scene of chaos as frightened congregants scrambled for cover, with some barely escaping the violence.
“We were deep in prayer when we heard shouting outside. Moments later, stones started flying in,” recounted a shaken church member, who requested anonymity.
Local authorities confirmed that while no injuries were reported, significant damage was inflicted on the premises. Police have launched investigations into the allegations against the pastor and the circumstances leading to the unrest.
The incident has divided public opinion, with some residents calling for legal action instead of mob justice, while others insist on accountability from religious leaders.
Police have urged calm, warning against unlawful retaliation, and are appealing to anyone with relevant information to assist in their probe.
