Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi has dismissed calls for his impeachment, defiantly daring critics to challenge him over his recent remarks on abduction cases.

Speaking at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) offices on Tuesday, Muturi remained resolute, saying he would not be drawn into responding to “perfunctory statements” from “inexperienced politicians.”
“Bring it on,” Muturi declared. “At my age, I am not the kind of person to respond to some of these statements. Some are perfunctory remarks by fairly inexperienced politicians and are not worth my response. If anybody thinks I don’t know what I am doing, they are up for a rude shock.”
The CS was at DCI to record a statement regarding the alleged abduction of his son, a case that has thrust him into the spotlight amid ongoing national conversations about enforced disappearances.
Muturi’s stance on abductions has sparked mixed reactions from the public and political leaders. On January 12, he criticized the government for failing to address the alarming trend of disappearances, many of which have affected young Kenyans since the Gen Z-driven protests in June 2023. Some victims have reportedly been found dead under mysterious circumstances.
“The cardinal duty of the state is to protect the lives and livelihoods of its citizens. The government cannot claim ignorance of such serious breaches of rights while failing to explain who is responsible,” Muturi said.
However, his remarks have drawn criticism from some quarters. Aldai MP Marianne Kitany accused Muturi of bypassing appropriate channels to address his concerns. Speaking at Mogomben Primary School in Kobujoi Ward, Kitany called for his resignation or impeachment, terming his public statements on abductions as disrespectful to President William Ruto and the Cabinet.
“The Cabinet is the highest decision-making organ in the country,” Kitany stated. “If you, as a Cabinet member, cannot raise such issues with the President directly, what do you expect ordinary Kenyans to do? Your remarks were uncalled for and disrespectful to the President and the Cabinet.”

Despite the backlash, Muturi remains firm, emphasizing his commitment to speaking out on issues affecting Kenyans. His remarks have intensified the debate over enforced disappearances, raising questions about accountability and the role of government in protecting citizens’ rights.
As the controversy unfolds, the public awaits further developments on the abduction cases and the political fallout from Muturi’s bold stance.
