A tragic series of road accidents on the Narok-Mai Mahiu Highway has claimed the lives of seven people and left several others injured.
Narok East Police Commander Samson Rukunga confirmed the incidents, which began when a trailer traveling from Narok to Mai Mahiu experienced a tire burst. The vehicle lost control and collided with a Station Wagon, an Ena Coach bus, and a Narok Line matatu, resulting in the immediate deaths of two matatu occupants.
“The first accident occurred when a trailer traveling from Narok suffered a tire burst, lost control, and collided with multiple vehicles, including a Station Wagon, an Ena Coach bus, and a Narok Line matatu,” Commander Rukunga told reporters.
Minutes later, a second trailer heading in the same direction collided head-on with a Toyota Prado coming from the opposite lane. Two occupants of the Prado died on the spot, while a third succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment at Narok County Referral Hospital. The second trailer also hit a motorcycle, killing two pillion passengers instantly.
“The second trailer struck a motorcycle, leading to the deaths of two pillion passengers on the spot,” Commander Rukunga added.
Although the exact number of injured individuals has not been confirmed, emergency response teams promptly transported the injured to Narok County Referral Hospital for treatment. The bodies of the deceased have been moved to the hospital mortuary.

The Kenya Red Cross, in a statement, described the incident as a road traffic crash involving six vehicles near Maltauro along the Narok-Mai Mahiu Highway.
“Several injured persons have been rushed to Narok County Referral Hospital,” the Kenya Red Cross confirmed.
Investigations into the cause of the accidents are underway, with authorities urging motorists to exercise increased caution while driving to prevent such tragedies.
