ANOTHER DRAMA AS PRISON WARDERS STORMS MACHAKOS COUNTY OFFICES DEMANDING A RELEASE OF A CAR OF ONE OF THEIR OWN

A drama ensued at the Machakos county government offices after Machakos GK prison warders stormed the Machakos County Government offices Decentralization section along Machakos-Wote road demanding the release a detained Motor Vehicle Reg. No. KCY 030 R Maruti matatu belonging to a Prison Constable David Koech.

The incident prompted the county officials to call the Machakos sub county police Commander accompanied by DCI officers to intervene.

The drama started after the said prison officer was arrested for the offence of picking up passengers and obstruction under the County Government by-laws. He had been released on free bond and was to take plea on 30/8/2021.

The prison warder alleged to have been assaulted by Martin Mumo, Victor Kimuyu and Junior Ngolya all the County Government enforcement officers and sustained injuries on the left eye and the private parts. At the scene it was found out that a motor vehicle Reg. No. GK B 218 M make Peugeot ambulance driven by prison Constable (driver) Joshua Munyoki had ferried unknown number of rogue people believed to be prison warders and one in prison uniform armed with a rifle to the said offices. Upon their arrival, they demanded the release of the said motor vehicle while causing fracas at the main gate.

One of the enforcement officers, Junior Ngolya was assaulted in the process. The CCTV footage covering the County Government offices (scene) will be reviewed to shed more light on what actually transpired. Victims have been advised to seek medical attention and report back for statement recording.
