Close associate of Starehe Parliamentary Aspirant Steve Mbogo, Dafton Mwaitiki is missing
Family sources say Mwaitiki was reported missing on the evening of Wednesday 11 March 2020 near his place of work, Garama plaza in Kilimani, Nairobi. Police, who have been trying to trace him since Wednesday, on Saturday found his car, a Discovery Land Cruiser, dumped in a thicket in Oaklands Estate, Juja, Kiambu County.
Family and friends are appealing to anyone with the information on his whereabouts to report to the nearest police station.
Mwaitiki first shot to the national limelight after photos of him and Starehe Parliamentary Aspirant Steve Mbogo brandishing high calibre submachine guns went viral, during the DusitD2 Hotel terror attack early last year.
Kenyans online questioned the presence of the two wielding automatic weapons and bulletproof vests at 15th January 2019 DusitD2 terror attack claimed by Alshabaab. Steve Mbogo later defended carrying a gun saying: “I was there as a civilian, who is mandated by law to handle firearms”
