crusader Lawrence Nginyo Kariuki, has died at the Aga Khan University Hospital where he has been undergoing treatment.
A statement from the family said Nginyo Kariuki died at 1:30am.
“It is with great regret that we the family of Lawrence Nginyo Kariuki announce his passing on early this morning 24th February 2020 at the Aga khan University Hospital at 1:30am.” reads the statement.
The Nginyo Towers and Lenana Mount Hotel owner who has been ailing at his Redhill home in Limuru constituency, Kiambu County died at Aga Khan Hospital
where he has been undergoing treatment.
Nginyo was also the founder member of The National Alliance Party (TNA) and Jubilee party spokesperson in Kiambu county.
He will be remembered as a long standing politician who was instrumental in Kenya’s quest for Multiparty Democracy.
Lawrence Nginyo Kariuki is a prominent Kiambu businessman, a farmer, a politician and renowned golfer who pioneered African golf in Kenya. His rise to riches is the textbook story of boy-born-poor, works-hard, gains-wealth-and-fame.

The late Nginyo Kariuki was born in 1938 in Githima in Ndumberi sub-location, Kiambu.
He will be remembered as a long standing politician who was instrumental in Kenya’s quest for multiparty democracy.
He is credited with the formation of The National Alliance (TNA) party which His Excellency Uhuru Kenyatta used to ascend to presidency in 2013.
His body has been moved to Lee Funeral Home awaiting funeral preparations
