ANC party leader Musalia Mudavadi and Bungoma senator Moses Wetangula on Saturday attended the BBI forum at Bukhungu stadium

The two leaders had earlier vowed not to attend the forum saying that they were not consulted.

Last week, Mudavadi and Wetang’ula said the BBI rallies were meant by some people to position themselves for 2022, instead of uniting the country.

The duo were scheduled to have a parallel meeting but the police canceled their permits.

At the Nabongo Grounds in Mumias it was running battles as DP Ruto’s allies attempts to hold a parallel gathering were thwarted by Police who cordoned off the area.

DP’s allies included MPs Justus Murunga (Matungu), John Waluke (Sirisia), Didmus Barasa (Kiminini), Dan Wanyama (Webuye West) and Charles Gimose (Hamisi), former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale and former Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa.

Police fired tear gas at the politicians and their supporters at Ekero and Shibale, preventing them from speaking.

After they were dispersed at Ekero, the politicians fled to Shibale market but police followed them there.

The politicians decided to push their rally to next weekend.

Leader at the BBI meeting in Kakamega

Speaking at Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega during a consultative meeting on BBI, Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has said that the Building Bridges Initiative is a solution to Kenya’s governance.

  • “Raila may not be the President of Kenya but we want a constitution that will ensure Kenya is governed in a responsible manner; we want also to remove Kenyans from poverty to posterity like China which moved 300m citizens from poverty to middle income status,” he said.

Among the leaders present the BBI meeting at Bukhungu Stadium Kakamega were Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru and her Kitui counterpart Charity Ngilu , Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja and COTU leader Francis Atwoli among other guests.

Leaders from Western include Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya, Vihiga counterpart, Wilber Otichilo,
Senator Cleophas Malala, Wanjala Busia Woman Rep Florence Mutua, Budlalang’i MP Raphael among others
