In a notice carried on local dailies, the retired President revealed that the NDC would be held at the Ngong Racecourse in Nairobi.

“Notice is hereby given that the venue of the Jubilee NDC has been moved to Ngong Race Course, Nairobi. All other details remain as per the notice published on April 29,” Uhuru stated in the notice.

The new venue came after the Jubilee Party was denied access to the Bomas of Kenya, whose management had explained in a letter to the party that the closure was pre-planned and not meant to hamper Jubilee’s plans as perceived. In addition, the venue that was being sought after by the NDC is under renovation.

“We refer to the above subject matter and your letter dated 9th May 2023. We thank you for choosing Bomas of Kenya as your preferred venue for your National Delegates Convention scheduled for 22nd May 2023.

“Our Main Auditorium, whose capacity is 2.000 pax, has been scheduled for renovation works from 16th May 2023 for Eight (8) Weeks,” read the letter in part.

It further noted that Bomas was not in a position to hold another meeting as the venues available were booked.

The delegates will also formulate party policies which will be expected to form part of the Jubilee Party constitution in the near future. The NDC will also receive a status report from the National Executive Committee as well as consider and approve any other matters.

Jubilee Party National Delegates Conference will also approve new party policies in a bid to quell the tension within the top leadership.

The meeting will also see Uhuru expected to make changes to the party’s membership after a section of its officials ignored his warning to step down.

On April 28, Uhuru called the special NDC to review party policies, which had led to a row between two factions, one allied to Uhuru and the other, to President William Ruto.

Early this month, the acting Secretary-General Kanini Kega announced that Jubilee Vice Chairperson David Murathe and Secretary-General Jeremiah Kioni were expelled from the party and its register over gross misconduct and lack of respect for Jubilee organs.

Kega, who doubles up as a member of the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA), also indicated that Jubilee National Treasurer Kagwe Gichohi had been suspended for two years following recommendations by the National Disciplinary Committee (TNDC).

“The Committee found that the penalty to expel the member may be too harsh in the circumstances but was also alive to the danger posed to the party for failing to comply with the financial requirements to qualify for disbursement of political parties funds and the compliance was set to be triggered by the charged member,” Kega said after the faction’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting.
