The accident involved Ena coach matatu bound for Nairobi and a trailer bound for Bomet
Seven people have died as a result of a
horrific road accident on the Bomet-Narok route.
The accident happened on Friday at about 12 noon in Silanka area.
It involved an Ena coach matatu that was heading to Nairobi and a trailer heading to Bomet. The driver of the trailer was driving from Narok towards Bomet’s general direction and on reaching the location of the accident, he had a front right tyre burst.
“He lost control of the trailer and hit the Matatu going the opposite direction. As a result of the accident, the PSV matatu was extremely damaged leading to deaths and injuries,” Narok North sub-county commander Alphonce Shiundu told reporters
Five died on the spot while two succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment at Narok county referral hospital.
The bodies of the 7 deacd have been preserved at Narok Hospital Morgue.
“Five of the survivors are receiving treatment at the same hospital,” he said.
Five other people involved in the accident are receiving treatment in hospital after sustaining injuries. Majority of the injured suffered head and hand injuries.
